We have an extremely active Parents and Citizens Association that plays a major role in the school. The P&C is engaged in relevant school issues and changes through collaboration with the principal on a regular basis. This process is valued by the P&C as a key strength in the relationship between parents and the school.
Fundraising:
The P&C raises a considerable amount of money each year through a range of fundraising events. In 2013 we published a cookbook, “Our Berry Kitchen” which has been hugely successful. If you would like further cookbook information or to buy a copy, please see our cookbook website http://ourberrykitchen.org.au/ or like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/OurBerryKitchen
In 2017 various fun raisers are being planned.
The success of our fundraising is largely due to volunteer work from the parent body of the school along with much support from the wider Berry community. The money we raise has been used to enrich and support the school in a variety of ways including supporting teacher’s aides and enrichment programs, air conditioning and interactive whiteboards for every classroom and playground upgrades. There are plans to re-invent and reinvigorate our school library, returning it to be the “hub” of learning at Berry Public School.
Meetings:
P&C meetings are held twice a term on a Tuesday at 6.30pm in the school library, typically in weeks 4 and 8, and dates are published in the school bulletin in advance. The school principal, P&C executive and parents attend, along with the occasional guest speaker in an inclusive environment – all ideas, comments or concerns are welcomed, along with new attendees. Membership (not compulsory, but enables voting rights) costs 50c per annum.
